Center EDGE Hosts LA Promise Fund’s Black College Success Initiative for College Essay Writing Workshop

October 21st, 2022 – LA Promise Fund’s Black College Success – an initiative that supports Black students from South Los Angeles to and through college – brought dozens of 12th grade students to USC’s University Park Campus for their college essay writing workshop on Saturday, October 15th, 2022. Students met with LA Promise Fund volunteers to work on their college admission essays and gear up for the 2023-2024 application season.

For many students, this was their first time visiting campus and, for some, being inside a college classroom. College student volunteers, who led campus tours, came from the USC Norman Topping Student Aid Fund, USC Black Student Assembly, and USC Latino Alumni Association. Center EDGE is proud to have hosted Black College Success, recruit USC student volunteers to lead campus tours, and provide publication materials to help make their campus visit a positive and welcoming experience.
