California Governor Gavin Newsom Appoints Alan Arkatov to the Exposition Park and California Science Center Board of Directors
California Governor Appointment
California Governor Gavin Newsom has appointed Alan Arkatov, Senior Advisor to Arizona State University President Michael Crow and Executive Director of the ASU Learning Transformation Studios and Center EDGE, to the Exposition Park and California Science Center Board of Directors.
Established in 1872 as an agricultural fairground, Exposition Park is a 160-acre urban park that is home to a collection of world-class museums, educational institutions, sports facilities, and entertainment venues.
Located just south of downtown Los Angeles, the park has become one of Southern California's top visitor destinations, attracting approximately 4 million people annually.
The Exposition Park and California Science Center Board of Directors provides oversight of the multi-use complex that includes:
- The California Science Center
- The California African American Museum
- The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County
- The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
- BMO Stadium (home of Los Angeles FC and Angel City FC)
- The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art (currently under construction)
- The City of Los Angeles Rose Garden
Home to the USC Trojans football team, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum hosted the 1932 and 1984 Summer Olympics. It will also be a principal venue for the upcoming 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.
