Designing the Future Together: Studios and LAUSD Co-Create a Vision for Innovation
In partnership with leadership from the second-largest school district in the nation, ASU Studios is helping shape what’s next for education in Los Angeles.
In March 2025, ASU Studios convened senior leaders from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) at the ASU FIDM California Center in downtown Los Angeles for a collaborative design session focused on co-creating a major education innovation experience. This invitation-only session marked a significant step forward in the deepening relationship between ASU and LAUSD—two institutions committed to reimagining learning at scale.
Through a dynamic afternoon of ideation, scenario planning, and collaborative design, more than 20 LAUSD leaders joined ASU Studios to co-imagine what an Innovation Expo could look like—representing key areas across the district, including Instruction, Innovation, Special Education, Technology, Facilities, Student Services, Operations, and Community Engagement. Attendees surfaced shared values and ambitious ideas for how an Innovation Expo could inspire, empower, and activate students, educators, families, and the broader community. This important session signaled not only the urgency of the moment, but also the trust and momentum Studios has built in supporting LAUSD at the highest levels. Studios served as both strategic convener and connector, helping frame the session, capture emerging ideas, and guide a process that made space for creativity, equity, and impact.
This is what Studios does best—bringing the right people to the table, creating room for bold ideas, and helping move vision to action in ways that are grounded and scalable.

The March session reflected the ongoing momentum between ASU and LAUSD, where Studios has been actively building trusted relationships with district leaders across innovation, instruction, operations, and equity. The session’s outcomes will inform next steps in the development of an experience that centers LA youth and accelerates learning innovation.
As the work progresses, Studios will continue to amplify community needs, steward cross-sector collaboration, and help align ASU’s strengths with LAUSD’s priorities to unlock sustainable solutions for LA schools.
