LACOE AI Taskforce and the ASU Learning Transformation Studios Partner to Drive AI Solutions in the Classroom for Teachers, Staff, and Students

The Learning Transformation Studios hosted an event on June 6, 2024 at the California Center Grand, bringing together key stakeholders from the LACOE AI Taskforce. The evening underscored a pivotal moment in the integration of artificial intelligence in education across Los Angeles County, featuring a blend of insightful discussions, AI demonstrations, and networking opportunities.

The event began with a warm welcome from LACOE’s Executive Director of Public Affairs and Communications, Elizabeth Graswich.  She set the tone for the evening, emphasizing LACOE’s dedication to fostering innovative solutions that cater to diverse learning needs. Her address highlighted the importance of collaboration in leveraging AI for educational transformation.

During his remarks, Alan Arkatov, Executive Director of the ASU Learning Transformation Studios and Senior Advisor to ASU President Dr. Michael Crow, reminded the task force that now was the time to act; students are already using AI and it’s time we work together to foster solutions that bring together parents, students, and staff.

Chris Hoang, head of the LACOE AI Taskforce, also articulated the future of AI in education, outlining a vision where AI tools support teachers and enhance student learning outcomes. He stressed the role of AI in personalizing education and addressing equity issues inside and outside the classroom.

Attendees viewed the final task force guidelines which determined how to vet vendors, pilot products, empower staff, and complete risk assessments. The event concluded with a vibrant networking session, allowing attendees to forge new connections and discuss potential collaborations. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and a shared commitment to driving the AI in education guidelines forward.
