ASU Learning Transformation Studios’ Executive Director Alan Arkatov Travels to Gurgaon, India, for the 2nd Annual ASU+GSV & Emeritus Summit
In mid-February 2024, Alan Arkatov, Senior Advisor to ASU President Michael Crow and the ASU Learning Transformation Studios Executive Director, traveled to Gurgaon, India, for the 2nd annual ASU+GSV & Emeritus Summit. Arkatov hosted one of the highlights of the Summit, a fireside chat with Ambassador Eric Garcetti, the United States' top diplomat in India, and ASU's COO, Dr. Chris Howard. Arkatov then served as the moderator for a provocative panel discussion on whether the global workforce will have the skills needed to grow the green economy.
This three-day gathering brought together leaders and decision-makers in education and EdTech from India, the Middle East/North Africa, Southeast Asia, and the United States to explore education transformation in India, “the East,” and the rest of the world.
The program delved into critical issues and developments with a diverse group of leaders, including EdTech startup founders, private education company CEOs, investors and promoters, K-12 school system CEOs, university leaders, NGOs, government policymakers, and corporate skilling leaders. They examined the dynamic landscape of education innovation, sharing insights and strategies for navigating the future of education in a rapidly changing world.
Education, the Workforce and Sustainability Panel Discussion
The world needs to go green to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. A distinguished panel of industry experts from the United States and India convened for a provocative conversation at the 2nd annual ASU+GSV & Emeritus Summit on what it will take to educate, train, and deploy a new generation of employees capable of supporting our rapidly growing green economy. The panel started with a critical question: is our global workforce ready to tackle the technological challenges of creating a sustainable economy? With that challenge in mind, the renowned group of experts explored reshaping our current educational curriculum, fostering partnerships between academia, government, and industry, and nurturing innovation and youth empowerment in environmental awareness. The panelists also laid out their roadmap for building a 21st-century green workforce, reflecting on the steps necessary to achieve this ambitious goal.
